How to read your page views report

Below are 2 examples of a page view report. They are for the same company 2 weeks in a row. I’m only going to focus on the Wednesday for each week. I will explain how to determine the change column and the Percent of Total Visits column.

Week 1 Page Views

Week 2 page views

Calculating the Change column

Let’s take Wednesday December 5th as an example. The amount changed is -23. To get that number we do the following steps.

1.       Take the day one week before (Wed. November 28th)

2.       Take the Total visits(80) + the Average Visits Historically(41.53)

a.       These numbers add up to 121.53

3.       Take Wednesday December 5th

4.       Take the total visits(57) + the Average Visits Historically(41.85)

a.       These add up to 98.85

5.       Take The second week total(121.53) and subtract the first week total(98.85)

a.       You get the amount changed of -23 for December 5th.

Calculating the Percent of Total Page Views

Also using December 5th the percent of total Page Views represents how many Page Views that day has compared to the entire week.

1.       The total number of visits for December 5th is 57.

2.       The Total visits for the entire week is 393.

3.       Take total visits(57) divided by the total visits for the week(393)

4.       The percentage comes out to 14.50% of the week’s total visits on Wednesday.
